Animal Updates

The Wildlife Center of Texas offers updates on animals brought to our center only via e-mail. The Wildlife Center of Texas cares for almost 10,000 animals a year, so due to our high volume of patients and the care they require, phone updates are not available. When you bring an animal to The Wildlife Center of Texas, you will be asked if you would like to check on the animal you brought. If you say yes, you will be given a slip of paper with the information you need to check on the animal, including an animal identification number. Please do not call or e-mail without this information, as we will be unable to provide details without this information.

Bringing Rabies Vector Species

The Wildlife Center of TexasONLY accepts injured, orphaned, sick, or oiled wildlife. We do NOT accept healthy adult animals that need to be relocated. Due to an advisory from the regulatory authorities at the Harris County Health Department, we may not accept  certain rabies vector species* from all counties. If the animal is a Raccoon, Skunk, Bat, Fox, or Coyote please call The Wildlife Center of Texas at 713-861-9453 to speak with staff in order to determine whether we are permitted to take these animals from your county.

*Rabies vector species include: raccoon, skunk, fox, coyote, and bats.

Do I have to make an appointment?

You do NOT have to call or make an appointment before bringing an injured, ill, or orphaned animal to the center unless it is a rabies vector species designated above. Please do not email us to ask questions about an animal you have found that needs help.  The info@WildlifeCenterofTexas.org is NOT checked every day. If you do have a question you may call 713-861-9453 and our trained staff is available to answer all of your questions.
