The Wildlife Center of Texas (a non-profit organization) was formed to meet the increasing need for wildlife assistance in the Greater Houston/Upper Gulf Coast.  The Wildlife Center receives over 9,000 injured, ill and orphaned wild animals each year and is one of the largest wildlife care centers in the United States.

Our mission is to care for injured, ill and orphaned wildlife through rehabilitation, public education and release.  Volunteers and donations help us meet our mission.

We care for all native Texas wildlife.  The Wildlife Center of Texas is Houston’s only trauma and wildlife rehabilitation center that treats all injured, sick or orphaned native Texas wildlife species.   The Wildlife Center of Texas has NEVER turned away an injured, sick or orphaned native Texas wild animal that needs help.

The combined efforts of the Wildlife Center of Texas and our affiliate the Houston Society for the Prevention Cruelty to Animals (HSPCA) creates an umbrella that care for every single species of animal in the Houston area.  The ability to combine resources and man power has provided Houston’s wildlife in need  a place to heal, a place to grow and a place to be wild.

You can become involved with this important endeavor by helping.  Probably the most obvious opportunity is volunteering at the Wildlife Center of Texas, but feeding and cleaning cages is not the limit of volunteering. The Wildlife Center of Texas also needs volunteers to volunteer their expertise, whether you work with your hands or in an office, your skills can make a difference.

The Wildlife Center of Texas offers many opportunities to enrich your understanding and appreciation of native Texas wildlife.
